The weather's turning colder and still no home for Mooch or the Little Girl.  At least she's figured out that the covered bed (litter box) from the folks that I put outside is to lay in.  We got confirmation today when we each saw her leaving it when we stepped outside to feed them.

She still won't let me touch her, but she is getting a lot closer.  I don't know where Mooch is spending his nights.  He probably holes up a the "kitty flophouse" down the street.

I called the Open Door Animal Sanctuary (a no-kill shelter) today.  While they didn't say "yes", they didn't say "no", either.    I'm supposed to call Monday.  Apparently more cats are adopted during the colder months.  They were impressed that we were willing to pay the rest of the fees to make him adoptable (rabies, fe-leuk shots, etc.), so there may be some home for him on the horizon.  Then we just have to worry about the Little Girl.  The certificate for spaying should arrive any day now.  Given that she appears not to be not in heat yet, there's some pressure to get her spayed ASAP.

Tonight, I'm going to try to build a larger shelter for the two of them -- its' supposed to be next to freezing.

A touch of sadness:  Nora took the old comforter that was Max's "nest" off the chair next to her sewing table.  So now that the nest is gone, I'll probablly use the comforter for the shelter.  I imagine Max would like that.
