Aboard the Sartoraeus 

Prof. Gideon Pike
Pike's research and inventions revolve around attempts 
to harness those energies for industry and self-defense.

Given that Prof. Pike used to be in the Airship Corp and 
part of his training involved knowing all functions of his aircraft
(not a very big crew on ships back in the '60s, y'know).
And since he's working on harnessing supernatural energies, 
he would be interested in learning the theory behind what 
powers the Sartoraeus.
